Confessions are heard beginning one-half hour before every Mass, and after 4pm Mass every Saturday. On the first weekend of the month confessions will also be available after all Masses. If other times are preferred, please call the parish office for an appointment at 316-444-2210.

Examination of Conscience

First Confession:

First Confession is scheduled for the second Sunday of Lent at the conclusion of Forty Hours Devotion. Second grade students at St. Joseph Catholic School, Ost are prepared for First confession during the school day. Students not attending SJCS should contact Father for an approved program.

Parents seeking the Sacrament of Baptism must be registered and active parishioners. Please call the parish office at 316-444-2210 to schedule the Baptism and a meeting with Fr. Bernie.

Sacrament of Eucharist: 

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament: 

All parishioners are encouraged to answer God’s call and commit to one weekly scheduled hour in the presence of our Lord. Adoration takes place in the Adoration Chapel (old convent) west of the Church. Adoration is held weekly from Wednesday Noon to Thursday midnight. During the seasons of Advent and Lent, St. Joe offers a Holy Hour on Weekdays at 7:00am. These Holy Hours include the Liturgy of the Hours, Rosary, and an opportunity for the Sacrament of Confession. Beginning the second Friday of Lent, St. Joe also hosts Forty Hours Devotion. Dates will be published in the bulletin and on the website calendar.

First Communion: 

Second grade students at St. Joseph Catholic School, Ost are prepared for First Communion during the school day. Students not attending SJCS should contact Father for an approved program.

Communion Calls:

For individuals who are dispensed from attending Mass due to being homebound or ill, communion will be brought to them. To be added to the list for communion calls please contact the parish office. 316-444-2210

In the Diocese of Wichita, the Sacrament of Confirmation is offered to 7th grade students. Students enrolled in St Joseph Catholic School, Ost receive instruction during the school day. Students not attending SJCS should contact Father for an approved program at 316-444-2210.

Engaged couples seeking the sacrament of Matrimony one member of the couple (or his/her parents) must be registered and active in the parish for a minimum of nine months before wedding preparation can begin. The couple should call the parish office at 316-444-2210 to arrange meetings with Father at least nine months prior to the anticipated wedding date.

The Anointing of the Sick is administered to bring spiritual and even physical strength during an illness, prior to any surgery. To schedule an appointment to receive the sacrament of Anointing of the Sick, please call the parish office at 316-444-2210.

The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults is for adults who are interested in the Catholic faith journey toward full communion into the Catholic Church. The responsibility of a prayer warrior or sponsor, would be to support an individual candidate on this faith journey. An assistant teacher would help to lead class and help to teach topics of the faith.
