FUNERAL MINISTRY

Rosary Reception, Meal Preparation

A simple reception of cookies and drinks is offered, as an option, in the Parish Hall after the Rosary for the family and friends of the deceased.

Parishioners bring sides or desserts for a funeral meal, provided by our parish. Help is needed to prepare, serve and clean up for the meal.

HOMEBOUND MINISTRY

Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist are encouraged to be a part of this ministry as there is often a need to have Holy Communion brought to those who are homebound. However, all ages are suitable to keep in touch with the homebound, elderly, or even the lonely of our parish, through visits, phone calls, emails, etc.

MEAL TRAIN

This is a great family ministry to provide a home cooked meal. Individual and/or Family meals (a new baby, recovering from a major surgery, family hardship, etc.) Weekly, on Wednesday, a meal is served at the parish rectory for Father and the retired priests of our parish. PARISH AUCTION COMMITTEE

A major fundraiser for the parish & school, held in November, has opportunities for service and donations. The committee begins meeting in February.

Sesquicentennial Committee

In 2030, we celebrate 150 years as a parish. This committee will start the process of organizing and planning for this great event.

SOCIAL COMMITTEE

This committee plans or helps to coordinate parish social events such as a yearly dance, card parties, and other social events through the year, including Parish Picnic, held each year on the Saturday after Labor Day with games for kids and adults. Burgers, hot dogs and adult beverages are provided as a thank you for stewardship to our Parish.

WELCOMING COMMITTEE

Members of this committee great newly registered parishioners with hospitality and parish information. A parish welcoming event is also planned each year.

ALTAR SERVERS

It is the custom at St. Joseph to allow one to begin Altar Serving in the fifth grade and continue until graduation from high school.

CHURCH USHER

Opportunities to usher at Mass include Saturday at 4pm, Sunday at 9am, and Holy Days of Obligation. Ushers welcome guests, take up collection, ensure the church is ready for the next Mass, and are prepared with instruction and information for emergencies.

EXTRAORDINARY MINISTER OF HOLY COMMUNION

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion help to distribute Holy Communion at Mass. They may also take the Holy Eucharist to the sick or homebound with the pastor's permission and/or training. This ministry requires pastor approval, a diocesan mandate, and training.

LECTOR

Lectors proclaim the word of God at Mass. This ministry is for high school or older and is subject to training and approval by the pastor.

OFFERTORY GIFTS

A great way to engage your family in the Mass. The offertory gifts are carried and presented at Saturday 4pm, Sunday 9am, and Holy Day Masses. Single persons can easily carry the gifts alone or be assigned with a fellow parishioner.

SACRISTAN

Sacristans make the necessary preparations for Mass, are responsible for the care and upkeep of sacred vessels and the care of the Church. Training is required as well as approval of the pastor.

MUSIC MINISTRIES

CANTOR, CHOIR, INSTRUMENTAL

Music within the Mass helps to provide a sacred sound that uplifts the liturgy, making a joyful noise to the Lord! Currently music is provided for the Sunday and Holy Day liturgies. The Youth Choir (grades 6-12) sings on the 1st Sunday of the month and the Adult Choir sings on the 2nd Sunday of the month. The other Sundays of the month are led by a cantor. Practice times are scheduled per the needs of the group or individual. There is no music at Mass during the month of July. Any and all availability to help our growing ministry is welcome!

PERSONAL PRAYER APOSTOLATES

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION

Our parish offers adoration in the adoration chapel weekly on Wed. at noon until Thurs. at midnight. Children are most welcome with a parent.

SEVEN SISTERS APOSTOLATE

Organized into groups of 7 women; each taking one hour on a specific day to pray for a specific priest in our diocese. Our parish currently has two Seven Sisters groups. Each sister makes a one year commitment of prayer, renewed each year on the feast of the Sacred Heart.

ROSARY LEADER

Twenty minutes prior to each Mass, the rosary is prayed in church.  Leaders are assigned on a rotating schedule. This is a great ministry for families or a student to lead with an adult.

Vigil Mass, Sat 4pm; Sunday Mass, 9am; Weekday, 8am & 6:30pm
